Gardaí are appealing for witnesses in relation to the unexplained death of a man in Cork city on Wednesday.
Officers attended the scene at Merchant’s Quay Car Park, on the Parnell Place, shortly after 11.30am.
The scene was preserved and a technical examination was carried out.
A post mortem took place earlier on Thursday at Cork University Hospital - the results of which have been given to Gardaí.
The man has been identified as 35-year-old Gary Dineen, who is originally from the north side of Cork city.
Gardaí are making a number of appeals in relation to the investigation.
They are asking anyone with the following information to contact Bridewell Garda station at 021-494-3330, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda station:
- Anyone who was in Mr Dineen’s company from Saturday August 8th
- Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious or unusual in Merchant Quay Car Park and the surrounding areas from Saturday August 8th to Wednesday August 12th
- Anyone that used the Merchants Quay Shopping Centre car park who may have noticed anything, particularly drivers with dash cam footage, from Saturday August 8th to Wednesday August 12th
Gardaí say they are keeping an open mind as they continue to investigate all of the circumstances of Mr Dinnen’s death.
