Gardaí are appealing for a man who helped an injured man following a serious assault earlier this month to come forward.
Investigators this afternoon renewed their appeal for witnesses to the assault on Phibsborough Road at around 7pm on Monday October 7th.
A man in his 40s received serious head injuries in the incident and was taken to the Mater Hospital.
He was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in a critical condition.
This afternoon Gardaí said they are particularly interested in talking to a man who is “understood to work in the medical profession,” who came to the man’s aid.
They said he spoke to Dublin Fire Brigade on the phone and in person at the scene of the incident.
“It would be of great assistance to the investigation if this man would come forward,” they said.
Investigators are also appealing for anyone else who was in the area between 6pm and 7pm and may have witnessed the assault to contact them.
They are particularly interested in talking to motorists that were in the area and may have dash cam footage.
No arrests have been made as yet and the Garda investigation is ongoing.
