Appeal after teenager stabbed on beach in north Dublin

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in north Dublin.

It happened in the vicinity of Portmarnock Beach on Friday at around 9.30pm.

It is believed to have been a row between two groups.

The teenager was taken to Malahide Garda station from the scene by car by a member of the public who came to his aid.

He was then treated by members of the Garda Armed Support Unit.

He was taken by ambulance to Temple Street Children's Hospital, where his condition is described as stable.

Superintendent Gerry Donnelly said: "Gardaí are anxious to hear from any witnesses who may have been in the vicinity of the entrance to Portmarnock Beach, Velvet Strand, Coast Road and Wendell Avenue between 9.00pm and 10.00pm - or to anyone with camera footage - that could assist the investigation.

"Gardaí are also appealing to any persons who may have been using public transport in that vicinity and came across large groups of youths availing of transport services."

Garda scene of crime officers are examining the scene and no arrests have been made.
