The Army Bomb Disposal team responded to two call outs in the South West today.
At midday members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were sent to a school in Ennis in Co Clare following a request from the gardaí.
The team moved a chemical, commonly known as 'Brady's Re-Agent', to a nearby field where it was made safe through the use of a controlled explosion.
The chemical is commonly found in laboratories here, but becomes hazardous over time.
Just before 6pm the team were sent to the Roxboro area of Limerick City where two historical munitions were found by workers on a building site.
Upon examination the items were found to be artillery ammunition from the 18th or 19th century.
The scene was declared safe shortly after the bomb disposal team arrived.
