Two men have been arrested after an armed robbery to the north of the city which caused flights to be diverted at Dublin airport. 3 inbound planes were disrupted after gardaí requested priority access to the area.

During the robbery at Clarehall Shopping Centre a cash-in-transit employee was threatened by a man armed with a gun.

The 28 and 29-year-old men were arrested by Gardai in Coolock investigating a robbery at at 10.30am this morning.

During the robbery a man armed with a gun threatened a cash in transit employee demanding that a cash box be handed over. He fled the scene in a waiting car which drove towards the Malahide road.

Garda helicopter drafted in 

Gardai received a call about suspicious activity on the nearby N32. They went to the scene and carried out a search of a car. The men were arrested under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

The garda helicopter was drafted in during the operation which is believed to have caused disruption at the Airport.

All of the cash taken was recovered as was a gun. A burnt out car believed to have been used during the incident was also found.
