A number of advertisements have been found to be in breach of the ASAI code.
In its latest bulletin, the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland said these were found across social media, online, radio and print.
Among those in breach was an advertisement in a Lidl brochure for a petrol lawnmower.
The advert claimed the product was "environmentally friendly with an effective silencer system and reduced exhaust emissions."
The complainant claimed that petrol engines "are not in any way environmentally friendly."
The ASAI upheld the complaint.
The advertisers said with relation to the effective silencer, it was submitted that this was considered to be "more environmentally friendly as the noise produced by the model was less than the legislative permissible limit."
The advertisers also said the language 'environmentally friendly' had been stated "in relation to specific aspects of the product, namely the effective silencer and reduced emissions, which go beyond the requirements of the legislative standards and demonstrate an improvement in environmental terms."
Another complaint upheld, relating to a website, took issue with claims that products were approved by several different bodies.
The Hempture website and catalogue said products had been certified by the IIHA and tested by EirLab.
The complainant considered this misleading because they believed Hempture, the IIHA and EirLab were all owned by one company.
The Complaints Committee also expressed concern at the advertisers' failure to respond to the complaint.
There were also two complaints upheld around adverts for 'Ireland’s most successful driving school' and 'The best Credit Union in Wicklow'.
Orla Twomey is Chief Executive of the ASAI.
"The latest complaints bulletin from the ASAI shows the importance of our role in the Irish advertising industry, ensuring that advertisements are legal, truthful, decent and honest for all Irish consumers," she said.
"The ASAI fully investigates all complaints thoroughly to ensure that advertisers in Ireland are not in breach of the high standards in the ASAI Code.
"The ASAI also provides a free and confidential copy advice service to the advertising industry to help them create responsible ads that adhere to the advertising code," she added.
