Two men have been badly injured after a serious assault in County Kildare early this morning.
Shortly after 12:30am, a man in his 20s was found unresponsive on the Dublin Road in Monasterevin.
He was then taken by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital, where his condition is understood to be critical.
A second man in his early 50s was treated for facial injuries at the scene before being brought to Portlaoise Hospital.
No arrests have been made as yet.
Gardaí in Kildare are appealing for witnesses to the assault and for anyone with information in connection to the incident to contact Kildare Garda Station.
