A man has been seriously injured after being assaulted by several people in Temple Bar on Friday evening.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses of an the incident which occurred on Fownes Street Lower at approximately 9:50pm yesterday evening.

The man, in his 40s, was treated at the scene by Gardaí ad paramedics before he was taken to St James' Hospital where his injures are believed to be serious but non-life threatening.

Pearse Street Garda Station has asked anyone with information or footage in connection to the incident to contact them on 01 666 9000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 11 or any Garda Station.

The incident is believed to have begun in a fast food restaurant in Temple Bar Square before moving to the Fownes Street area.
