The ASTI is expected to ballot its members on new proposals agreed with the Department of Education today.

The secondary teachers' union has been engaged in industrial action after its rejection of the Haddington Road public sector pay deal.

It's seen teachers withdraw from out-of-hours duties like parent / teacher meetings.

The new proposals which may be voted on by the union's members include supervision and substitution duties as well as the reform of the Junior Cert cycle.
