Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon has died aged 82.
NBC News reported earlier that the former engineer, dubbed by many as a great American hero, passed away only days after his 82nd birthday.
Armstrong was Commander of the Apollo 11 spacecraft, and was famous not only for being the first person to walk on the moon, but also for his inspirational commentary on doing so, with “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”.
Armstrong underwent heart surgery weeks before his death. Â Hashtag #Neil Armstrong began trending on Twitter minutes after the news broke, with tributes pouring in from all over the world.
