Police in Australia say at least 10 people have been killed in an overnight bus crash in New South Wales.
A further 25 people were injured in the accident and taken to hospitals in the area by helicopter and road.
Reports say the bus was carrying 36 wedding guests leaving the reception before the crash occurred in Greta, 180km north of Sydney.
Police say they responded to reports that a bus had rolled off a ramp at a roundabout on Wine Country Drive.
It is understood 18 passengers were unhurt, but police fear the number of people killed may rise, as more passengers may be trapped underneath the overturned bus.
Following mandatory checks at a hospital, the bus driver, a 58-year-old man, was arrested.
He was charged with 10 counts of dangerous driving leading to death. The driver will appear before a court tomorrow to face these charges.
The specific circumstances of the bus crash are not yet clear. Police and emergency services have remained at the scene.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed sympathy for the friends and family of the deceased and thanked the first respondents on the scene of the crash.
“For a joyous day like that in a beautiful place to end with such terrible loss of life and injury is so cruel and so sad and so unfair,” he said.
“To the doctors, nurses, police, emergency services, to the people who transport the injured to the hospital – I once again say thank you.”
