36 people are now known to have died in severe landslides in Japan caused by torrential rain. Seven others are still missing in the Hiroshima area.
Rescue workers on ropes from police helicopters have been pulling victims from the rubble of homes.
It happened on the outskirts of Hiroshima following days of torrential rain. Authorities have issued a warning of potential further flooding to come.
According to broadcaster NHK, precipitation of 204 millimeters was recorded in Hiroshima City over three hours on Wednesday morning - more than the average total rainfall for August.
