Ireland's first baby of the New Year was born at almost the stroke of midnight.
The healthy baby girl, named Emily, was delivered at the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street, Dublin at about 5 seconds past midnight.
In the Rotunda a baby boy was delivered at 24 minutes past midnight weighing in at just over 7 pounds.

While in Cavan General Hospital a baby was born at a quarter to one.
