New legislation to control school admission policies is up for discussion today at a meeting of the Oireachtas Education Committee.

Minister Ruairi Quinn is proposing reforms including a ban on application fees and waiting lists for school places.

The draft legislation would also require schools to publish the criteria they use for enrolment.

John Suttle, who wrote the Clontarf Report on Irish National schools is one of those who will make a submission to the Education Committee today.
