An Australian radio DJ willingly put himself through what is known as the 'worst pain known to man' and filmed the entire thing for his YouTube channel.

Hamish, from Australian radio duo Hamish and Andy, went through an Amazonian coming of age ritual which involved placing his hands in gloves filled with bullet ants.

Bullet ants release a toxin in their bite that causes a human to experience the worst pain possible and causes them to feel burning and throbbing pain for hours.

The video which was uploaded to the duo's YouTube account was intended to be amusing, but prove's difficult to watch. Regardless, it has quickly gained over one million views. 

The bullet ants can bite several times every second and despite his hands only being in the gloves for a matter of seconds, he was bitten over a hundred times. 

Hamish excruciating pain lasted for over eight hours and was only relieved when he was taken to hospital and placed on a morphine drip.
