Paramedics in the Australian state of Victoria have been accused of deliberately faking an overcrowded hospital A&E to gain attention in an industrial dispute.

Photos from the Frankston Hospital were released in July showing patients on trolleys in crammed conditions.

But the government has now released images from hospital cameras of paramedics wheeling patients into the room before taking pictures.

Health Minister David Davis says it shows the ambulance union set up the pictures, and has labeled the actions 'reprehensible.

"I call on the leadership of the ambulance union to cease the reprehensible steps they've taken and stop misleading the community" he is quoted by ABC News.

While Steve McGhie from the Ambulance Employees Association has said it is a ridiculous claim.

"I can assure you paramedics have not set up this picture. A photo was taken of the extent of the problem, but it was not set up" he told ABC.

He said no beds were pushed together deliberately for the sake of the photos.

The Victorian government has released this CCCTV footage, which it says shows paramedics staging the overcrowding.
