One of Australia's leading politicians has taken to Twitter to ask members of the public to be vigilant - and keep an eye out for her earring.
Foreign Minister Julie Bishop lost a pearl earring while going between television interviews this morning in Sydney's Martin Place, the scene of a hostage crisis in the New South Wales city in December. Ms Bishop reached out to her near 100,000 Twitter followers to help find it:

Australia's foreign minister has tweeted an unusual request to the people of Australia.
The tweet includes a still of the politician during a Sky News interview, wearing only one earring, along with a phone number of her office in case someone stumbles up on the pearl jewel.
The cabinet minister has become a Twitter sensation in Australia, where her unusual tweets have captured the public's imagination. Her earring Tweet has since viral, generating thousands of tweets, both positive and negative:
