Fuel prices have fallen significantly at the pump over the last month, according to AA Ireland.

The company’s latest Fuel Survey finds that diesel prices are down an average of 22c per litre (11.3%) on last month.

Meanwhile, petrol prices are down 17c per litre (9.8%).

Petrol remains significantly cheaper than diesel at an average €1.60 per litre, compared to €1.74 for diesel.

It is the lowest average price for petrol recorded since September 2021 an the lowest for diesel since February of this year.

“These latest price reductions come at a good time for motorists, hauliers and commercial operators alike,” said AA Ireland spokesman Paddy Comyn.

He said there is “no firm indication” how far prices will fall, but said they give drivers “some slight respite against ever-increasing prices.”
