A general election candidate has launched an advert with a difference.

Independent candidate in Dublin Bay North, Averil Power, has madea boxing-themed election video.

In the video, Averil is shown boxing, skipping, running and doing sit-ups.

She also talks about what boxing has taught her.

"Boxing teaches you to role with the punches - also teaches you a lot about courage and commitment", she says.

"I think that's kind of a lesson for life".

"I think it's important in politics - Leinster House can be a frustrating place", she adds.

Since taking up boxing a few years ago, Ms Power has competed in several charity competitions.
