Wexford General Hospital has been evacuated due to fire.
“We’ve carried out a large evacuation of the hospital,” Wexford County chief fire officer Ray Murphy said.
“We’ve evacuated Level Four, Level Three and Level Two - which includes the on-call room for the staff in the hospital.
“We’ve evacuated St Pat’s Ward and St Catherine’s Ward - which also include paediatrics and evacuated St Mary’s Ward and the ICU has also been evacuated.”
No one has been injured but 207 patients have been removed from the building and have been dispersed to neighbouring hospitals.
It is understood the fire broke out in a plant room - but what exactly caused the outbreak is not yet known.
