A 1-week-old baby has died in the UK after being bitten by a dog.

A post mortem will be taking place to establish the exact cause death.

However West Merica Police are treating what has happened as a tragic accident.

Emergency services were called to an address yesterday and took the baby boy to Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

He died shortly afterwards.

Police say "initial indications" suggest the boy died as a result of being bitten by the dog.

The Jack Russell family pet has now been put down.
