A six-week-old baby girl is being treated for serious injuries after an assault at a house in County Meath.

Gardaí say a woman in her 20s suffered minor injuries at a house in Ashbourne at around 7am yesterday morning.

A man in his 20s has been arrested and is being held at Ashbourne Garda Station.

The baby suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries during the incident.

She remains at Temple Street Children's University Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.
