A baby girl is said to be recovering well in hospital after being attacked by a dog in Kerry last week.
It is understood she was attacked by an XL bully.
The 12-month-old baby was attacked at her home in the Lixnaw area of County Kerry over the weekend.
She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
She has since undergone surgery and is said to be recovering well.
The dog has since been destroyed and a garda investigation is underway.
The XL bully is the largest type of American bully dog and is set to banned in Ireland in the coming months.
They will be banned under certain circumstances in October before being completely outlawed by the New Year.
They will be the first dogs ever to be banned in Ireland.
