A baby who was left on a roadside by a thief who stole a Dublin family’s car is uninjured, according to Gardaí.
The thief stole the car in the Cabra area of Dublin after the owners briefly left it unattended with the engine running outside their home.
A nine-year-old child managed to jump out of the car before the thief sped off; however, a young baby was still strapped into the back seat.
The car-jacker left the child on a nearby roadside shortly afterwards before making off with the car.
No one has been arrested and no description of the man has been issued.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating the unauthorised taking of a vehicle that occurred on St Attracta Road, Dublin 7, shortly after 7pm on Sunday.”
“An infant passenger that was in the vehicle at the time was found shortly after uninjured.
“No arrests have been made; however, Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry.”
The Garda investigation is ongoing.
