One Dublin City Councillor has said taxpayers are coughing up millions for footpath falls because of lack of funding and management.
Dubliners have paid out more than €15 million for careless slips and trips on the-badly paved city streets.
Footpath falls have hit people hard with almost 300 injury claims paid out in the last five years.
North inner-city local representative Christy Burke says the government have a lot to answer for.
The Herald says an investigation shows that three of the Dublin Councils have paid out €14,746,835 since 2009.
Areas like Parnell Street, Talbot Street and Eden Quay are all seen as footpath 'blackspots' around the city.
However he also says he believes the majority of claims made are genuine.
