Temperatures could hit 21C in places over the bank holiday weekend as most off the rain clears away this afternoon.
Met Éireann is forecasting a mainly dry weekend, with scattered showers around the country
There'll be some heavy downpours in places this afternoon and evening – but things will pick up from this tomorrow.
Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel said we’re in for a pleasant weekend.
“As we go into Saturday and again on Sunday for most, we will see a pretty dry picture across the country,” he said.
“There will be some good sunny spells and in that sunshine, temperatures will respond and get up to about 20C or 21C – feeling very pleasant, especially from the midlands northwards.
“Further to the south, there is still that little bit of instability and there is the risk of one or two heavy, maybe thundery downpours breaking out in the afternoons and evenings.”
He said Monday is shaping up to have the best weather of the weekend.
“It is probably a bit of a drier picture on Monday,” he said.
“Maybe some cloud pushing into the southwest later on today and bringing some overcast conditions and possibly a bit of rain later on.
“For the majority of the country it will stay pretty dry and pretty sunny as well
“So overall quite good conditions but certainly the best of the conditions will be in the northern half of the country over the bank holiday weekend.”
Met Éireann is forecasting more sun on Tuesday before a spell of more consistent rain comes in form the west on Wednesday.
