The 53-year-old barrister is accused of murdering Keith Conlon on his land at Hazelgrove Farm in Tallaght.

It is the prosecution’s case that on Feb 22nd, he shot him in the head with a legally held revolver, shortly after he is alleged to have shot his dog with a licensed rifle.

He was due to be given the book of evidence today but was told it’s not yet ready for service. The State said it should be finished by September.

Judge Bryan Smyth was also told the Director of Public Prosecutions is considering a recommendation to bring further charges.

The case was adjourned until next Monday when the court will be asked to vary Mr Phelan’s bail conditions.
