A bartender who was injured by a bottle after closing time on St. Patrick's Day has lost her claim for damages against the Dublin pub where she worked.

24-year-old Amanda Connolly of Shancastle Park in Clondalkin alleged she was injured during a brawl outside Finches Bar on the Neilstown Road in 2010.

The bartender claimed she was having a cigarette break outside Finches Bar when she was struck on the face by a pint bottle of Bulmers Cider.

She alleged it was thrown by a customer involved a drunken brawl after closing time.

She suffered injuries and sued the owners of the pub and its security team claiming they had failed to provide a safe place of work but she has lost her case.

Mr. Justice Iarfhlaith O'Neill said it was clear from CCTV footage that she did more than go outside for a smoke - she went much further around the corner to get a good look at a commotion and unfortunately became the victim of a criminal act.

He said if she had stayed by the front door of the pub we would not be here today.
