Donald Trump last night announced a raft of new tariffs as part of his ‘Liberation Day’.
Among those tariffs announced were a 10% worldwide tariff and 20% on the European Union.
Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern told The Pat Kenny Show that there could still be future tariffs to come.
"Yesterday was his big day and I suppose, he had the world watching on; I think we'd all be very silly to think that the tariff regime will be settled yesterday - it won't," he said.
"I think we're into a period of negotiations and... the one thing that's clear is that the President isn't big into detail.
"It seems as if those charts were calculated so roughly and they moved away from a lot of the things they might do.
"The format and the statistical analysis for the reciprocal approach is almost laughable if it wasn't so important."
Mr Ahern said he would worry Trump still has the pharmaceutical industry in his sights.
