Gardaí say they are not treating as suspicious the discovery the body of a man in Kilkenny overnight.

The remains of the man were found in a house on Waterford Road in Kilkenny City last night.

The man found was aged in his 40s.

The scene has been preserved for forensic examination.

A post mortem examination is planned for later today but gardaí say preliminary examinations indicate no foul play was involved.
