Gardaí are investigating circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body in Dungarvan town centre in Co Waterford.  

A man's remains were discovered on Grattan Square in Dungarvan shortly after 6am.  

The man has not yet been identified.

The body was removed to Waterford University Hospital for a postmortem examination. 

Gardaí are awaiting results from the postmortem, which will determine the course of their investigation. 

The area of the scene was sealed off and a forensic examination has taken place.  Investigations are ongoing.
