The body of a woman has been recovered by emergency services off the coast of Waterford.
The discovery was made shortly after 7am this morning when a person was walking along Tramore Strand.
Emergency services were immediately alerted and Gardaí, paramedics and Waterford Fire Brigade attended the scene.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is understood she had been in the water for some time before she was recovered.
The remains will be transferred to University Hospital Waterford.
Gardaí have notified the State Pathologist and a postmortem examination will take place later.
The nature of the Garda investigation will be determined by the findings of the postmortem examination.
It is understood her death does not appear suspicious.
