Investigations are continuing in Cork following the discovery of the body of a man yesterday evening.

The remains were found in a flat on Bachelors Quay at around 6.30pm.

The assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster carried out a preliminary examination of the body last night, but it's understood a post mortem will be done later today.

The cause of death is still not known and the body has not yet been identified.
