Gardai say they are not treating as suspicious the discovery of a woman's body in Co. Louth.

It was found in a burned out car near Lordship at around 7pm yesterday afternoon.

The body and car were at Gyles Quay, close to where Detective Garda Adrian Donohue was shot dead in January.

Discovered by passers-by

Tom Brady is Security Editor with the Irish Independent.

He says the car was discovered by locals, who witnessed the fire breaking out.

"Locals spotted the car parked there, and as they approached they noticed the windows were steamed up" he said.

"One of them thought it might have been just a courting couple there; but it's only as they were looking at the car that it erupted into flames".

"The fire brigade were alerted, but by the time the fire as put out there was a lot of damage done - the car was completely burnt out" he added.
