The body of a man was recovered from the sea off Co. Mayo yesterday evening.
The alarm was raised at about 6.30pm when a man from Clare Island who had gone out in his currach yesterday morning failed to return home.
Malin Head Coastguard coordinated the search operation and the Coastguard Helicopter from Sligo was tasked to assist.
The Achill Lifeboat and Achill Coastguard boat were also involved in the search.
The body of the 67-year-old local man was discovered at about 7.35pm yesterday evening by the Achill Lifeboat crew.
His body was taken ashore at Roonagh Pier and removed to Mayo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
