Balbriggan Garda Station has been shut down after a member of the public walked in “with a device found at a nearby location”.
A Garda spokesperson has said the device is “believed to be historical in nature”.
The station has been closed as a precaution and the Army Bomb Squad has been called in.
A Garda spokesperson said: “This afternoon, a member of the public entered the station with a device found at a nearby location. This device is believed to be historical in nature.
“As a precaution [Balbriggan] Garda Station has been closed and the Irish Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal has been requested.”
