A man accused of murdering his partner's son at an apartment in north Dublin has been sent forward for trial.

Dean Fitzpatrick, a father of one and brother of missing teenager Amy Fitzpatrick, was stabbed to death last May.

In less than three weeks, the Fitzpatrick family will mark the one year anniversary of Dean's death.

On May 25th last, the 23-year-old was stabbed to death at an apartment on the Malahide Road.

Following a Garda investigation, the DPP recently decided to charge Dave Mahon with his murder.

Mr. Mahon is a partner of Dean's mother Audrey and the couple have been living together in Spain.

The 43-year-old flew back to Ireland in March and was charged with Dean's murder.

He appeared in court on bail today and was handed the book of evidence and sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court.

His father joined him in the court room today and his solicitor was handed a number of video tapes containing Garda interviews with the accused.

Dean's death isn't the first tragedy to befall the Fitzpatrick family.

In 2008, his then 15-year-old sister Amy went missing without a trace after leaving her friend's house on the Costa del Sol.
