Irish novels make up nearly one-third of the just-announced longlist for this year’s Booker Prize.
Four Irish books are on the 13-strong list for this year’s award.
The Irish books on the list are:

- Old God’s Time by Sebastian Barry
- How to Build a Boat by Elaine Feeney
- Prophet Song by Paul Lynch
- The Bee Sting by Paul Murray
They join authors from Scotland, Malaysia, the UK, the US, Canada and Nigeria on the list.
It brings to 37 the number of nominated writers Ireland has produced since the prize was first launched in 1969.
