Newstalk & Spar want to find the next great food products
Aspiring food producers will get the chance to showcase their products on Spar shelves thanks to a Newstalk competition.
Our business show ‘Down to Business’ and Spar Ireland have launched the competition focusing on all aspects of the food industry.
The competition will run on Newstalk’s Down to Business ”“ every Sunday from 9am to 11am ”“ over a 10-week period beginning this Sunday August 19th.
Competition entrants will feature on the show each week.
The winning company will receive the opportunity to sell their product in Spar’s local community network of 450 stores with over half a million customers visiting Spar stores daily.
The runner up company will have the opportunity to showcase their product in a local Spar store supported by an in-store marketing package.
Speaking about the competition Down to Business presenter Bobby Kerr said “We want to identify, promote and assist new brands by making their produce available on the shelves at Spar”.
“Breaking into an already saturated market is exceptionally difficult. We want to help these businesses in taking the first step to becoming household names and, hopefully, a global success” he added.
The winners will be chosen by a panel of judges including Bobby Kerr, Simon Marriott of  Spar Ireland, Kieran Rumley from Love Irish Food and James Burke from food consultants and retail advisers James Burke and Associates.
