The engineering company will invest €80 million in their Tipperary site over the next few years.
Boston Scientific, an American biomedical engineering company, have announced a major expansion of their Irish location in Clonmel.
It will add two new processing lines and expand its office spaces.
The company will also transition the site to use over 90% of its energy from renewable sources as they aim to be carbon neutral by 2030.
This €80 million investment will create 400 new jobs in South Tipperary.
Recruitment is already underway for highly specialised roles in the areas of production, engineering, quality, supply chair and research & development.
This announcement comes as Boston Scientific celebrate their 25th anniversary in Clonmel.
Vice President of Operations at the Clonmel plant Conor Russell says they want to continue growing.
“We’ve started here in 1998 and since then we have helped hundreds of thousands of patients with many different cardiac conditions, neurological conditions, through the products we manufacture,” he said.
“We are very proud of our contribution to local community through our charity committee and through the good work our employees do in the community.”
Mr Russell said Boston Scientific is “really looking forward to expanding and growing and adding to the current workforce in the coming months and years ahead.”
Medical devices made in the Clonmel site are used to help patients suffering from heart disease, neurological disorders, kidney stones and diseases of the pancreas, bile ducts and oesophagus.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said, "Ireland is a global leader in the life sciences sector, and the decision by the company to invest again in Clonmel shows real confidence in the talent and infrastructure available."
