A pregnant woman whose boyfriend fears she is being forced by her parents to undergo an abortion in the UK has been given time to seek independent legal advice. The case has been put back until Friday morning.
The man believes his girlfriend is being unduly pressured to have an abortion in the UK against her will. The court heard the procedure is scheduled for tomorrow.
He says his girlfriend's family is of the view she will be ruined if she has a child with a non-white man. The couple are both foreign nationals.
The man sought court orders to stop his girlfriend leaving Ireland until it can be established she is acting from her own free will.
The orders were not granted but his girlfriend did come to court this afternoon.
She was not represented in court and Ms. Justice Mary Laffoy adjourned the case until Friday morning to allow her time to get legal advice.
