A pilot project in four north Dublin schools that gives breakfast to children in class has been hailed a success.

A report shows that it would only cost 70 cent per student to roll out the 'Breakfast Club' to the poorest students.

This research was carried out by charity 'Healthy Food for All' over an 18 month period.

The group is calling on the government to provide an extra €1.8m a year to ensure every child attending a DEIS school can start the day with a healthy breakfast.

These kids at St Eithne's Girls School in Raheny love it.

Project coordinator Sinead Keenan says parents and teachers are also keen to see breakfast clubs grow.
