Streets in south London have been flooded overnight - but there's something in the water. Reports yesterday suggested that a sewage pipe had burst on Clapham Road in the city.
However a Thames Water spokesman has said the flood was a result of a burst main, with the water then mixing with silt and mud.
However speculation as to what was in the water has led to '#LondonPoo' trending on social media site Twitter. Various photos have also been posted online showing the merky sunstance.
Homes were flooded with the filthy water up to a foot deep and a main road was blocked after a water main burst last night.
Problems have continued this morning, causing major delays on the roads in the morning rush hour.
Several fire engines, police cars and an ambulance attended the scene near an Underground station, but the service was not affected.
