The Department of Foreign Affairs is urging Irish people in Belgium and France to exercise extreme caution, following terror attacks in Brussels.
Earlier, the department advised citizens in Belgium you to exercise extreme caution and to follow the instructions of local authorities.
Now the department has also updated is travel advice for neighbouring France.
It says: "In light of several explosions in Brussels...security operations are being reinforced at borders, railway stations, ports and airports across France".
"This increased security may result in additional security checks".
It advises those travelling to France to give extra time for journeys by public transport, and also to follow the advice of local authorities.
This puts both countries at the third-highest alert for travel.
