The budget shows the Government is “incapable of delivering real change”, Sinn Féin has claimed.
This afternoon, Ministers Jack Chambers and Paschal Donohoe announced a mixture of tax cuts, spending increases and a cost of living package.
In response, Sinn Féin’s finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty said the measures would not fix Irish society’s most serious problems.
“This Government is incapable of delivering real change and incapable of getting value for money,” he told TDs.
“People see through the spin; people hear about the millions and the billions but they don’t feel better off.
“For most people, it’s about what they have at the end of the week; when the bills are paid, is there anything left?”

Deputy Doherty said most families and workers “can’t afford another five years of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael” and referenced recent scandals in public procurement.
“You treat the public with contempt when you waste taxpayers’ money on every project big or small,” he said.
“From a bike shed to the National Children’s Hospital to a security hut to modular units for Ukrainians that are costing more than semi-Ds built with bricks and mortar.”
The Donegal TD also said the Government had overseen “new shameful milestones” in housing and said homeownership had “collapsed” among young people.
“Record homelessness, record rents, record house prices - and nobody takes responsibility,” he said.
“Everyone suffers when this Government fails to build the homes that it needs; Sinn Féin are committed to bringing homeownership back within the reach of working people.”
In an 'alternative budget' last week, Sinn Féin promised in Government they would deliver €10 a day childcare, a tax on luxury cars and €450 worth of energy credits.
