Bus and rail fares are set to rise in the wake of the cost-cutting plans proposed for Bus Éireann.
Yesterday's deal between unions and management at the bus company will save five million euro in cost cutting.
The Irish Independent says CIE is expected to make an application to the National Transport Authority before July and the new fares at Bus Eireann, Irish Rail and Dublin Bus are likely to take effect from 2014.
