Bus lanes operating normally despite Dublin Bus strike

Gardaí have confirmed to the Department of Transport that bus lanes will continue to be in force tomorrow - despite the Dublin bus strike entering its third day

Its due to the large numbers of private bus operators, taxis, emergency services and cyclists expected to use them.

They say, however, that the matter will be reviewed if there is congestion.

400-thousand commuters face major travel disruption in the morning because of the dispute which centres around 12 million euro worth of cost saving measures at the company.

The National Bus and Rail Union says its open to talks in order to call a halt to the strike but want reassurances regarding the salaries of bosses at the company.

Richard Guiney from the Dublin City Improvement Association says this action is having an impact on businesses in the city:
