The 40-year-old was chased out the door and kicked repeatedly in the head and neck as he lay on the ground on Wellington Quay.

He died soon afterwards.

Provocation defence

The internet cafe owner told gardai that anger had built-up after similar and worse episodes and caused him to lose control.

His defence was provocation.

After nearly 10 hours of deliberations the jury this evening convicted the 36-year-old of murder by a majority of 10-2.

In victim impact evidence the mother of the victim - Rose - said her son had a problem with drugs but he had managed to turn his life around and she was proud of him.

Zhen Dong-Zhao has been jailed for life.
