The owner of an internet cafe in Dublin has been found guilty of murdering a customer who did not pay for a 70 cent phone call.
Zhen Dong-Zhao with an address at Jervis Street kicked 40-year-old Noel Fegan to death outside the e-Times cafe on Wellington Quay on May 20th last year.
Father-of-two Mr. Fegan went into the cafe to phone his 11-year-old daughter but got into a row with the call shop owner Zhen Dong-Zhao about the 70 cent bill.
The 40-year-old was chased out the door and kicked repeatedly in the head and neck as he lay on the ground on Wellington Quay.
He died soon afterwards.
Provocation defence
The internet cafe owner told gardai that anger had built-up after similar and worse episodes and caused him to lose control.
His defence was provocation.
After nearly 10 hours of deliberations the jury this evening convicted the 36-year-old of murder by a majority of 10-2.
In victim impact evidence the mother of the victim - Rose - said her son had a problem with drugs but he had managed to turn his life around and she was proud of him.
Zhen Dong-Zhao has been jailed for life.
