Dublin City Council is coming under pressure to investigate how a man lay dead for up to 5 weeks in sheltered accommodation before being discovered.

It follows the death last week of 62-year-old Brian Corr in council accommodation in Beggars Bush Court in Ballsbridge.

The badly decomposed remains were reportedly found by a female Garda last week.

Age Action says it is very worrying that someone could be dead in their home for so long without being found.

Spokesperson Gerard Scully says it is very worrying because sheltered accommodation is supposed to be supervised.

Labour TD Sean Kenny believes neighbours did ring the council after becoming concerned about him.

A spokesperson for Dublin City Council says they are looking into what happened in this case. Age Action says the case raises questions about the services being offered in sheltered accommodation and how to stop this happening again.
