The Campaign Against Household And Water Charges held a national forum in Dublin today.

Around 600 people attended the meeting to voice their opposition to the new property tax and planned water charges which are expected next year.

Organisers of today's event say the taxes are unjust and will leave already struggling homeowners on the brink of poverty.

Today's meeting comes after an IMF document revealed this week that the Government told the EU commission it expects to raise half a billion euro from water charges.

These are thought to set households back by 370 euro annually.
